Our temple enshrines the statue of Acala (hidden Buddha) carved by Kobo Daishi Kukai as its principal image, and is one of 12 temples founded in Nishitani by the great priest Saiko Daisojo in 906. It is located in a very convenient location for pilgrimages, in the central southern part of the mountain. It is also known as the Yamashina Imperial Family's family temple, and has been given the title of Yamashina Betsuin.
