Pleasantly surprised by how well was organized everything ( check in, accommodation, meals). Both dinner and breakfast were very good and the quantity was sufficient. Room was big with a logia overlooking the garden. The morning prayer lasted 1 hr and in the end the priest read from his notes in English what the prayer was about and what to visit in Koyasan!!! Highly appreciated. Also we had a tour of the temple.

This experience at Shojoshin-in Temple was so unique and special and one that our family will always remember. The ability to experience a Fire Ritual and morning meditations will leave lasting impressions on each of us. The team even explained the purposes of each after the rituals were completed which helped educate us all. We stayed in the Ryokan on site which was amazing. The area is quiet, clean and allowed us the opportunity to truly unplug. I wish I would have booked two nights and would absolutely stay here again.

We had a wonderful time at Yochi-in. The monastery is beautiful and well maintained. The vegetarian meals were delicious. We were able to meditate and participate in spiritual activities and had a very enlightening discussion with a very knowledgeable monk.

1. Location is perfect. Houzen- in temple is just at the entrance at Okuno-in, which means you have a perfect starting point with night walk or early morning walk at Okuno-in. 2. My room has the view of Japanese garden - so fantastic and enjoyable. 3. Dinner and breakfast are so well cooked and tasty. 5. Staff are so welcoming - got a warm greet from a young staff. 6. Bath time is too limited. 21.00 is the close time but the majority is still not back from night walk at okuno-in. And also not open at morning.

Sleeping in a monastery in Koyasan was overall a fantastic experience. We were welcomed with kindness and courtesy, and tea was already prepared in our room. The rooms are traditional in style, spacious, and you sleep on futons with excellent duvets that keep you warm. Beautiful yukata robes are also provided. The cleanliness was excellent, and the option to use the onsen was also available. The internal garden was beautiful and well-kept. The dinner and breakfast were excellent, although quite unique as they were strictly vegan. Participating in the morning prayer at 6 a.m. with the temple monk was very intimate. The only thing that could be improved: the room heating system, as there's only one kerosene heater that smells bad. Overall, however, an experience not to be missed!

We really enjoyed our night at Hoon- in Temple. It gave us a truly authentic experience. The staff were very pleasant and it was lovely to be able to join morning prayers.

We had a fantastic experience at Honno-In. We were met by and extremely kind gentleman who showed us around the immaculately kept Temple accommodation. The garden was beautiful and our room looked out onto it. We were greeted with tea and cake in our very comfortable room with heater and electric hot water bottles in the beds. Each party had their own dining room and we were were served the best meal that we experienced in all of our 2 weeks in Japan. Breakfast was similarly delicious following pray, which was led by (and explained by) a lovely monk. What a glorious start to our day of walking the pilgrims trail and temples of Koya San. Mt favourite part of our Japanese vacation.
