Excellent stay, we all really enjoyed the tranquil Sanbo-in; everything from atmosphere, food, and hospitality was top notch. We opted to walk to the West cliff before dinner, then through the cemetery in the East after dinner. I didn't get a chance to try the bath since it was fairly small for the amount of people looking to use it, though it did look relaxing. It was nice of the temple to allow us to attend the morning sermon, though a couple in our group thought it was too cold during the prayers; maybe that depends on the time of year. In any case, both dinner and breakfast were vegetarian and easily one of the best meals we've had. Would highly recommend an overnight stay at a temple here and to enjoy the surrounding settlement both during the day and night.

Second time in Koyasan, first one was a more expensive one but this temple was super charming and the staff very friendly. I found super easy to check in and be part of prayers

Sleeping at Ichijo-in Monastery was a wonderful experience. The place is beautiful, and our simple yet elegant room overlooked the lovely garden, perfectly suited to experiencing classic Japanese style. The sanitary facilities were modern, and the onsen bath was excellent. The food was well-prepared, refined, and delicious. Attending the religious service was interesting for a layperson and aesthetically beautiful. A truly special and highly recommended experience

We stayed in Daien-in Temple. It was a very unique and interesting experience. I am glad we planned this visit. We learned a lot. Do not miss a walk through the cemetery. It was essential for me to book a room with a private toilet. Koyasan Shukubo Association helped me to find a room and made a reservation. Thanks a lot!

Staying at Ichijoin was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The meals were impeccable and presented so beautifully. The onset experience was relaxing and refreshing. The staff was kind and helpful in every way. The area was in full fall splendor with glorious colors everywhere. We recommend this accommodation and experience to anyone that savors true Japanese hospitality and culture. We are so grateful to all who opened their lives and ways to us so graciously.

Staying at Daien-in was a wonderful experience! It was a beautiful place to learn about Buddhist culture. Our hosts were kind from arrival to exit, the room was comfortable and we appreciated the variety of food included in each meal. While not all the dishes were to my taste, I had enough food to try that I was still very satisfied! The morning meditation and tour of the temple was very interesting and I enjoyed being a part of the experience. There are only two things I can think of that would improve my experience. First, to have a booklet or person to explain what the dishes were at breakfast and dinner. Second, in the middle of meditation, a monk came into the viewing room and said something while pointing to an altar with incense. It would be nice to have an English card of what he said, I think it was encouraging us to participate in some way, but I didn’t want to be impolite and do it the wrong way. Thank you for an incredible cultural experience!

We stayed one night at Sanbo-in Temple in Koyasan and it was truly one of the best experiences of our lives. The temple was peaceful, clean, beautifully organized and filled with such good energy. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious, healthy, and full of unique flavours we had never tried before. We attended the morning prayer which was deeply meditative and informative about Shingon Buddhism. All of the staff and monks were exceptionally kind and welcoming, and they even gave us some thoughtful gifts that made our stay even more special. We felt completely at peace and genuinely happy there; I only wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely come back again. thank you for giving us this wonderful opportunity to experience such a meaningful stay.
