We very much enjoyed our stay at Nan-In. The meals were delicious and the room was comfortable. The onsen was also great to soak in after a day of hiking. The temple is located within an easy walking distance of Okunoin cemetery and Kongobuji.

Staying at a temple in Koyasan was one of the highlights of my Japan trip. The vegan food (shojin ryori) surprised me — way more flavourful than I expected. Multiple courses, all beautifully done. Waking up early to join the monks for morning prayer was a powerful, meditative experience. If you're looking for something truly unique in Japan, this is it. Highly recommend.
