A great experience. This temple seemed busier than the others I stayed at. This might be why the staff seemed a bit less friendly and a bit more rushed.

Exceptional! The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The meals were delicious and the gardens beautiful. Highly recommend this temple stay. Felt very welcome at morning prayers and was very relaxed for the whole stay.

Very sweet people in our Shukubo and very baby friendly!! It was a real nice and interesting experience to spend some nights in the temple. The organization and booking process via this site was perfect.

The warm welcome from a Chinese Monk is beyond expectation. However, the temple is under construction, the experience definitely doesn't match the price.

Very dirty and poorly maintained temple. Would not stay in Koyasan if this is your option, make it a day trip.

This is my second time staying on Koya-san, and unlike the first time this was a disappointing experience. The accommodation was chosen for us by Shukubo Association, and I said yes to their recommendation because it advertised meditation, which we practice regularly However, we were not told the temple would be under construction and covered in plastic sheets, and noisy in the mornings, or that the meditation was not available. I do not mind that old buildings require construction, but I believe we should have been informed in advance. I appreciate that being hosts is not a primary concern for the staff as they are there to study and pray, but they treated us like an inconvenience. No hot water for tea, not enough rice for dinner, no questions to be asked, and they seemed to avoid us. The bath was dirty and the water not good quality, and the restrooms and bedroom all smelled like damp. For the cost of accommodation, this was not a good experience.
