Loved our stay here. Easy check in. Very comfortable Japanese style room with very warm bedding. Nice basic onsen / shower facilities. Food was vegetarian; however with so many different flavours and very carefully prepared it was delightful. Loved the morning meditation chanting in the main hall / shrine. Such a privilege being invited to observe the spiritual practices and experience a Buddhist temple stay in the mountains. Thank you. 🙏

The rooms were beautiful, including the dining room and the prayer hall where we attended the morning prayer. Everything was very calm. The food was very specially prepared and presented. It is a pity that the monks didn’t speak much English, it would have been nice to talk a bit with them. Also, I thought we would get the sutras to copy, but didn’t. It was a pleasant stay.

Customer service was excellent. The rooms were very clean . Dinner and breakfast were excellent. My problem was thst I do not know how to use chopsticks, so I struggled . Maybe a vhoice of wooden fork/ spoon should be provided. Thanks

Ci tenevamo molto a soggiornare in un tempio a Koyasan. L'esperienza al Daien-in Temple ci ha fatto vivere appieno la sacralità del luogo. La cerimonia del mattino è stata molto emozionante, la stanza che dà sul giardino è bellissima, la cena e la colazione servite nella sala comune con gli altri ospiti sono ottime, la sala da bagno comune con la vasca di acqua calda ti ristora dopo una giornata ad esplorare il luoghi sacri di Koyasan. Abbiamo vissuto una magnifica esperienza. Grazie ai monaci che ci hanno ospitate e all'associazione che ci ha aiutato ad organizzare la nostra permanenza

It was an amazing experience. As long as yoiu accepted the minimalist approach. This was not a four star hotel accomodation. I would guess tht the monks had fewer amenities, but it increased my awarness of a lifestyle. Up at 6AM to get to morning ceremony. then immediately to breakfast. Not much leisure. Living on their schedule, not mine was a challenge. But, this is what is signed on for, and it did challenge me. The food, vegatarian was amazing. Each dish had unique flavor and texture. The meals were well thought out. I not only appreciated them, but looked forward to the subtllety in each dish. A few days later at a four star hotel, I was served vegetarian meals which were quite boring in comparison. The stay was a challenge, but not overwhelming and I appreciated the experience.

Good location and fantastic experience. Especially with the morning ceremony. Take note that this is a temple lodging and there will be minimum customer service provided. Public bath closes at 9pm, so for guests attending the night tour at the cemetry, there will not be enough time to use after the tour is finished.
