Daien-in Temple is a historic temple founded in the early 9th century.
It is also known as the temple associated with the love story of Takiguchi Nyudo and the Flute, which is also told in the Tale of the Heike, and there is a historic flute on the temple grounds. You can enjoy the beautiful gardens of Koyasan in all four seasons, early morning religious services (starting at 6:00, 6:30 in winter), and copying sutras, and you will feel the solemn atmosphere that is unique to temple lodgings. The lodgings are decorated with lighting and accessories made from Koya paper, which is said to have been brought to Japan by Kobo Daishi, and works by Nagasaka Yoshimitsu (awarded the Photographic Society of Japan Writer's Award), one of Japan's leading photographers who has made photographing Koyasan his life's work.
