Many people use this inn as a quiet "hometown of the heart" for modern people who seek sincerity, and as an unforgettable inn where you can hear the bells of the heart.
Hojo-in is the historic head temple where an ajari was appointed when Emperor Goshirakawa ascended to the mountain some 870 years ago. It is located in the center of Koya-san, on a hill just north of Danjo garan complex, and is the funeral home of the Genkan'in Imperial Family. The secret treasure, Benzaiten, in particular, has been designated an Important Cultural Property. Other highlights include the paintings on the walls of the Shoin study and the sliding doors of the large hall, making this a secluded and elegant temple that is worthy of recalling ancient culture.
